2026 PiratePalooza Schedule

Posted in Pirate Events, PiratePalooza Pubcrawl

This is the complete schedule for the 22nd Annual PiratePalooza Pubcrawl & Pubsing, to be held on Saturday, Octobarrrr 24th, 2026 – Captains: share it with your crews!

This year PiratePalooza returns to Decatarrrr, where twenty-two years of accumulated bad judgment, questionable navigation and increasingly suspicious behavior have made our annual invasion something of a local tradition.

And because this year’s Palooza falls so deliciously close to Halloween, we’re calling it PUMPKINPALOOZA. Expect pirates. Expect pumpkins. Expect absolutely no useful explanation for how those two things became connected.

PiratePalooza #22 (2026)
The Invasion Plan

Here is the current schedule:

1:30pm – 3:30pm — Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards
3:30pm – 3:45pm — Invasion March
3:45pm – 4:30pm — Mocking of The Commodore
4:00pm – 6:00pm — O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub

Yes, some of those times overlap. That’s intentional. PiratePalooza is not a guided tour and let’s be frank: Captain Drew is an unreliable cruise director. Some crews will weigh anchor early, others will linger behind, and still others will become distracted by shiny objects, beer or attractive strangers. Follow the map, follow the pirates, or make your own way.

Please Hydrate!

Late October should spare us some of the heat we’ve endured during previous invasions, but grog and ale and porter and rum remain remarkably effective at sneaking up on a pirate.

HYDRATE during the week leading up to PiratePalooza. That means actual water, mate. Not soft drinks. Not sweet tea. Not a rum drink containing one rapidly melting ice cube.

Your Sunday morning self will thank you.

Twains 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Scurvy pirates of all descriptions will begin to slink into Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards beginning at 1:30pm to plan the invasion of Decatarrrr!

Twain’s has been the launching point for many a PiratePalooza invasion and once again gives us a chance to assemble the crews, catch up with old shipmates, make new ones and — importantly — put some actual food into our bellies before making a series of increasingly questionable decisions.

We’ll weigh anchor around 3:30pm

The Traditional Mocking of the Commodore 3:45pm – 4:30pm

Once assembled on the Square, we shall take a moment out of our busy invasion to discuss our longstanding grievances with the Ghost of Commodore Stephen Decatur.

Twenty-two years have passed and the Commodore has still done remarkably little to address our concerns.

There may be shouting.

There may be accusations.

There may (or may NOT!!) be dancing.

The Commodore, as usual, will remain infuriatingly stone-faced throughout the proceedings.

Those pirates who have heard enough may begin drifting toward O’Sullivan’s before the rest of us finish abusing the dead naval hero.

O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub 4:00pm – 10:00pm

Our pirate crews will assail the bars and ice cream shops along the southerly side of the plaza, concentrating on O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub, renowned for its spirited Irish service.

O’Sullivan’s will fill up quickly, so don’t be afraid to spread yourselves around the immediate area. PiratePalooza has always worked best as an invasion rather than forty pirates attempting to occupy the same six square feet of tavern.

Keep an eye (your good eye) on your coinpurse, because it will be crowded and you can never trust a pirate.

And remember: tip generously. We want the people serving our crew to be happy that the pirates came to town.

Explore Decatarrrr!

We encourage you to explore Decatarrrr on your own!! Visit the many excellent restaurants and bars. Remember that the servers are at work and may not understand your pirate brogue, so be sure to be sugarplums to them all and TIP WELL!!!

Security

Please be safety aware. If you see anything dangerous please report it immediately.  As with Renaissance festivals and other period events we have a “no bare steel” policy – all edged and pointy weapons must remain in their scabbards at all times. Also: no black powder, please. Save it for Tybee 😉

Designated Drivers

We LOVE designated drivers and so should you. It’s way too easy to get a safe ride home these days, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.  Help keep an eye out for pirates that shouldn’t be driving and don’t be afraid to say something. Read more about Designated Drivers here.

Parking in Decatur

Decatarrrr actually has quite a good bit of parking scattered around the square (see high-resolution Decatur Parking PDF c.2016). Some lots are reserved for restaurants, some are pay lots, and some locations are free on weekends.
